Sleepy Cat WIP01

I found a wonderful photograph by of a cat sleeping and just had to try to draw it - I'm drawing it at 8" x 10" and the face takes up most of the space.



I started out with graphite, but couldn't get dark enough, so I grabbed a black colored pencil and then I couldn't get light enough, so I grabbed a white gel pen. Then I went to Michaels and grabbed a bunch of different gray colored pencils (my set came with ZERO grays???).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to continue working on it with colored pencil. I'm really pleased with the way it's coming out. And you know what - a year ago, if someone had told me that I would ENJOY drawing fur, I'd have laughed in his/her face, but I really do. I look forward to hair of any kind and that is SO WEIRD!!

Anyway - any thoughts, tips, suggestions - I'm open!!
